The morning is crisp and cool. Steam rises from the fragrant dark liquid in my cup. Inhaling deeply, I savor that first delicious sip.
For me there is nothing better than a good cup of coffee—rich, bold black coffee—unsullied by sweeteners or creams. It’s a warm hug for my whole system. It makes me happy and ready for my day. Because I love coffee so much and drink several cups a day, I mostly stick to decaffeinated.
So many times I have heard that decaf isn’t as flavorful, but that hasn’t been my experience. Coffee—good coffee—must be thoughtfully prepared. The routine of brewing your coffee can be just as relaxing as that first sip. The aroma that fills the room as the brewing begins and you know that it won’t be long.
Admittedly, I also enjoy the occasional mocha or—if expertly crafted—a cappuccino. My one word of advice is if you want a truly delicious specialty coffee take the time to find a good coffeehouse near you. Chain restaurants just can’t come close to the same experience that comes from a coffee drink crafted by the skilled hands of a barista.
Let me know your favorite way to drink coffee or if you have a favorite brand of bean.
